The Iceman
Wim Hof trains his body and mind in the harsh natural world, in extreme cold. There, breathing and mindset become increasingly effective, and in this way he can penetrate ever deeper into his own physiology. Over the years he has further developed and perfected his method, and continually pushed his own limits.
He became known for impressive feats in the cold, and it wasn't long before the name The Iceman followed. He now holds no fewer than 20 world records, including the longest ice bath, climbing snow-covered mountain peaks in shorts, and running marathons within the Arctic Circle.
In 2007, Wim Hof was studied by the Feinstein Institute. The results showed that he appears able to influence his autonomic nervous system. Since then, he wants to share his method with the world and seeks collaboration with science to further explore its possibilities.
The Wim Hof Method
And more focus and goal-directedness.
For your general well-being.
Better performance, and better recovery (recuperation).
Improvement through better conduction and flow.
Optimizing through better conduction, with control of your breathing.
Consciously letting the systems in your body work together.
Research
I myself and many others have experienced the power of the method: healthy people, people with a physical condition, and athletes. Various studies show that the method is effective for different health goals.
The endotoxin experiment showed that Wim Hof, through his breathing exercises, produced significantly more cortisol than other test subjects. Cortisol suppresses inflammation in the blood; people with an overactive immune system, for example, may benefit greatly from this. Research on brown adipose tissue showed that Hof still has brown fat. This indicates that the method helps to maintain brown fat.
